Modelling and Experimental Study of Dissimilar Arc Stud Welding of AISI 304L to AISI 316L Stainless Steel

This paper has aimed to try and establish a successful weld joint between AISI 304L stainless steel as stud 316L plate by using an arc welding process. The effect of different current time on the torque results was experimentally studied, three-level each process parameters. post-weld heat treatment (PWHT) carried out optimum sample torque, study PWHT mechanical properties (torque hardness) microstructure zone. In present work, a3-D finite element model developed ANSYS software version 18 analyze influence temperature distribution residual stresses resultant welded joints. A transient thermal built predict whereas were determined static structural model. been used reduce amount enhance joint. micro-hardness based Vickers test specimens with withoutPWHT have investigated. simulation reveal that generated stress is strongly affected welding. indicated prompted improvement in hardness values.
